Peter Blackburn

Peter

wings 2 Para

I am sorry to say Peter died on Saturday 29 November 2014 at 2am. Peter had been plagued with severe health problems in the last 12 months but had in true 2 Para style fought to beat it.

Sadly he had massive bleeding 12 weeks ago and was admitted to hospital where he fought infection and many problems caused due to an infected bypass. On Saturday following many attempts at recovery he was rushed to surgery and despite the efforts of the surgical team they could not stop the bleeding.

He didn't die alone as I was there to the end holly was there with me and Robert Thomas and my mum were keeping vigil hoping he could win this battle but sadly he had fought his last war.

He was a true hero to the end and I have lost my husband friend soul mate and confidant, but words can't express my admiration for his determination to survive against the odds - 2 Para you can be proud of his courage he was a soldier to the end!

For anyone attending Peters funeral please could I ask you to respect the wishes of both Peter, me and the children and wear bright colours to celebrate Peters life not his passing. We also respectfully ask for no flowers as a collection box will be available for Help for Heros! The Parachute Regiment made Peter into the person he was, kind, hard working, determined and true friend/oppo, as such we would like to help those who are true hero's but cards will be provided for private messages (these will not be opened and will go with Peter) this is so family or friends can pay their respects in a personal message to Peter without any worries or concerns.

Peter lived life to the full, was loyal and a true soldier in all he did (including his language and bar hobbies) but he was a superb father husband brother and son to us all so if you wish to attend please note this will be a rememberance but above all a grateful thanks for his time here as such Celebrations are the operational orders of the day xx
